Black Xperience evening at Norbury Manor Business & Enterprise College, Croydon October 17th
Tania Aubeelack spoke powerfully on behalf of JtoJ. She talked about the Mangrove 9 campaign for justice, focused on the role of Althea Lecointe Jones, physician and leader of the UK Black Power Movement. She also told the story of Women Unite Against Racism and Julie Begum who organised a voter registration drive in Tower Hamlets to unseat Richard Beackon of the BNP.
Shanique Benjamin, a former NMBEC student told the audience how much she loved and had learned from the school. She wants her peers to speak up about issues they’re passionate about and understand their voices can make a difference.
