Workshop at the University of Sunderland, London Campus

We delivered a workshop on the intersectionality and the politics of race and class across the world and in the UK and on economic injustice at the University of Sunderland, London Campus.

Facilitators Tania Aubeelack, an oral historian and youth worker and Martin Spafford, former secondary history teacher and specialist on history of migration asked attendees to think about:

  • What would an economically just society look like in the world?
  • Is an economically just society / world achievable?
  • The British Empire and the trillions of wealth extraction in India and questioning and reflecting on why is it that the UK is still unequal given that scale of wealth extraction from its empire.

We looked at how change is possible, but it takes a long time and is often (if not always) done by ordinary people organising in their communities to show solidarity and love to others.

🤌🏽 The international students from India and Nepal were so thoughtful in their answers and debates. They touched on human nature, capitalism, ever-ending growth, education & social constructs.

🫡 We ended with insights on how money and wealth follow the power and where it lies.

✨️🔈 Thank you, Dr Banhishikha Ghosh and Imad Guenane for inviting Journey to Justice to your campus.
