Workshop in the Black Country

Cool workshop with young people from the Black Country in Wolverhampton delivered by us and Genesis Sun for a piece of ground-breaking research by Young Lives Young Futures looking at young people in transition from school to work 😊

🧡 We had icebreaker games to get us going and group discussions on young people’s experiences of choosing vocational courses instead of going to university. We shared the actual findings of the research* and matched what young people said to what was found.

🖤 Young people offered solutions to what they wanted to see implemented. They expressed their frustrations, such as boring classrooms and not enough workshops on practical life skills ‼️

💙 They were so creative in their outputs, sharing their thoughts on what they believed is happening and what ought to happen to support them in the world of work as they enter the job market or choose to get a qualification given that they don’t want to go to university.

✨️☀️ There were dance, singing, and spoken word poetry 🙌🏾 👑

The workshop was facilitated by Martin Spafford, Patricia Boyer, Tania Aubeelack and Duncan Moore (his first workshop with JtoJ)!

Journey to Justice is honoured to have work with you both and your fabulous organisation, Genesis Sun working in the West Midlands.
